Reply Tom July 24, 2015 Mine is working in Atlanta, zip code 30318. If you aren't afraid to roll your sleeves up and learn the ins and outs of a new platform, Media Portal comes recommended. (I haven't tried it personally.) Any HTPC forum I've tried your workarounds but the good zips mentioned in your file fro Dallas area do not work.
The task name is "MediaCenterRecoveryTask". I had to remove and reinstall WMC **and** change the DNS to google. If your system is still resolving to the older guide system (Zap2It) this process will continue to fail regardless of what zip codes you enter. So do what I did and you should be ok but updating windows if you do make sure the media center is working each time. Removing the feature and adding it back was all it took. It's currently being investigated.

TiVo's hardware, of course, is still a viable option, delivering external DVR capabilities with CableCard support, albeit with a monthly fee that will pain anyone accustomed to the free Media Center I used WMC all the time with Windows 8, and I really missed it on Windows 10. It immediately skips to telling me to check my hardware through the control panel. The guide worked well until recently when a rescan was needed.
As for the installer I used, the dropbox link that Windows Central posted was dead by the time I attempted to download. That does seem to be what is happening.
